My dear Sir:
I have your letter of the 15th inst. inquiring about the financial standing of Mr. Y.C. Lee. For a number of years I have been handling Mr. Lee's funds for him, which, by at the way, at the present moment are a little overdrawn. His father has regularly supplied him from China with the funds necessary for his educational expenses, though he has been obliged to keep his expenses at a low plane. Frankly, I am very much opposed to having him run up bills for books, etc., though it may be necessary occasionally for him to do this. I would much prefer to bear from him direct in the matter before sanctioning the owning of such an account as you suggest.
Very truly yours,
