Dear Helen:
Thank you for your last nice note. If the roads get a bit better, I shall try to run over again soon.
I had a long letter from your father only a few days ago and am simply passing on the good word to you, so that you may understand things in China are not quite so bad as the newspapers here try to make them out. Tram the contents of your father’s letter I gathered that he himself was not greatly concerned and not unduly anxious.
Yes, the school report was an excellent one, and I congratulate you heartily on it.
