Description

Typed letter sent from Alfred E. Stearns to Mrs. Arthur Young about her brother, John Mitchell's, academic performance. Removed Mitchell from probation due to improvement. Will decide whether to invite Mitchell back at the end of the year. Believes a year at a smaller school may be necessary.

Mrs. Arthur Young,

Milwaukee, Wisc

My dear Mrs. Young:

To my great satisfaction, John’s instructors report considerable improvement in the boy’s work and attitude this term. In the hops that encouragement will help the case still more we have decided to withdraw John from probation, and to extend to him for the balance of year the full privileges of the school. At the same time, we believe it to be wise to defer until the end of the school year the final decision bearing on the boy’s return next fall. It is still a question in our minds whether your brother has developed sufficient maturity and purpose in his work to make it wise for him to continue his course. A year in a seller, stricter school may seem necessary. Of course, xx hope that he will be able to go on with us and finish his course without interruption. If any other than this is recommended, it will be done wholly on the basis of what we believe the boy's best interests and welfare demand.

Very sincerely yours,
Principal
