My dear Mrs.Pope,
Thank you for your kind and frank letter regarding Wong Vung Long who plans to enter the Academy this fall. We have had a number of Chinese boys here for the past few years and they are among the brightest and most acceptable boys we have in school. I have become very fond of them and I shall be glad to do anything I can to carry out in the case of your friend the ideals cherished for him by both you and his father.
At the present time, the Chinese students of the Eastern States are holding conference meetings here in Andover and I wish you might find it possible to attend some of these public meetings. There are about 100 boys, a more interesting lot of fellows or more interesting meetings it would be difficult to find. It is too bad that the new comer could not have reached us in time to meet the many Chinese boys who are here at present.
I shall of course advise you when the young man reaches Andover, I shall be glad to have you come here to make his earliest days in this XX
Thanking you for writing me so fully and frankly, believe me,
Very sincerely yours
