My dear Mr. Robinson
Your very kind letter of the 6th inst. has been received and vary deeply appreciated. I assure you after reading the letter I feel an even keener regret at the necessity of giving up the undertaking. I assure you, however, that J would be glad to feel that I could consistantly pursue any other course, but this seems impossible. Any service which I might in other ways be able to render at any time will be gladly contributed, and I certainly hope that you will find just the right man for the special work in hand.
With best wishes for the New Year, believe me.
