My dear Dr. Stearns
I note by the paper this morning that Dr. Charles D. Tenney is about to return to China as Secretary of the American Ministry at Pekin. I presume that you are well acquainted with Dr. Tenney, and if so, will you, if it is not asking too much, send me a letter which will assist me in making his acquaintance, which, I feel, will be of decided advantage to me when I go.
Please excuse me for again bothering you, and accept in advance my thanks for any action you may take in the matter.
With kind regards,
Very sincerely yours
