My dear Mr. Stearns:

The day after receiving your letter regarding sun I was away from home and he called with Sax Lu. He told Mrs. Pillsbury that he was spending his vacation in Boston. In as much as no definite arrangement was made with me by you or him I shall have to throw upon you the responsibility of saying whether he was to stay in Boston or here. If it is your understanding with him that he was to spend the vacation here I shall demerit him. If it is your decision that he should spend the vacation where he pleases I can do nothing but require him to be back promptly for the beginning of the next term-January fifth.

Yours sincerely,

J. H. Pillsbury.
