My dear Mr. Stearns:

Our term closed Tuesday and without saying anything to me Sun left and has not been since seen. I learn that he made arrangements to meet one of the day school pupils from Brookline in Boston that evening. I understood, incidentially [sic] from him that he expected to remain here through the vacation although he did not say so definitely. During vacation boys who remain with me are required to be excused to leave town just as in term time. I am confident that he must have known this, although he may offer as an excuse that I had not definitely told him, as I intended to do Tuesday afternoon. He went so precipitously that I had no opportunity to see him.

I think it best that you should know this as it is not the kind of faith that I expect well meaning boys to keep with me.

Yours very sincerely,
