Their calendar states that resident pupils are due Monday, September 24. Mrs. Richardson was in one day this week and asked for this same information. Perhaps you know that Miss Jones is in the hospital. She had her tonsils taken out Wednesday morning, and Mrs. Burtt told me this morning that she was getting along nicely but that visitors have been excluded so far as the doctors didn’t want her to talk. We are all hoping, of course, that this operation will clear up the trouble with her eye. Everything here is running smoothly. There is very little mail and very few visitors. May I trouble you to ask Mrs. Erving on Salem Street if she is willing to take care of the Tsai children, as she did early in the summer, until my return next month and in all probability until they have to leave for their respective schools. Alfred will be due in Andover about the first of the month, I imagine that Helen will stay with Mrs. Richardson until the latter’s return though it is possible that Mrs. Richardson may be glad to have her get away a bit earlier. I am sorry that Miss Jones had to go through the tonsils operation but am glad that the ordeal is now behind her and am trusting that it will bring her real and permanent relief. If Andover weather has been as hot by comparison with that we have had here of late I pity you, I do not recall a hotter August in this north country than that just drawing to a close.
