The medal is not yet paid for. Though subscriptions are coming in from private schools in Hawaii, California, Maine, Florida and other parts of the country, the fund to build the memorial schools is being kept open so that each child may have the opportunity of contributing his or her mite, no matter how small.
We believe there is not a child in the country but who desires to add expression of admiration and esteem to that felt for the great Marshal. Every cent collected goes to France as our working fund is supported by private contributions and gratuitous service.

At the time of enrollment in this movement, we received a letter from Mr. Clark of the Lawrenceville School asking if the Phillips Academy had enrolled, and we replied that at that time we had not heard from you. We would greatly appreciate a card telling us when we may expect a contribution from your school, as it would, indeed be a pity were not the students of the Phillips Academy represented in this great work.

Thanking you, believe me

Cordially yours,

                <text>My dear Mr. Stearns:

It is some time since we wrote you in regard to the fund being raised throughout the country for the gold medal for Marshal Foch from the school children of America and for the building of two memorial schools in France. One school is to be called the "Washington-Lafayette", in memory of the aid France gave this country in our fight for freedom in 1776, and the other is to be called the "Foch-Pershing", in memory of our men who crossed the seas with General Pershing in the World War.

The gold medal was presented to Marshall Foch in Washington at the foot of the Lafayette Monument last Tuesday morning. A child picked at random to represent every State and Territory in the country, formed a group around the base of the monument and two little girls, representing America and France respectively, stood on either side of the Marshal.

In addressing the children, the Marshal said that no greater honor could have been bestowed upon him, and the [sic] desired to shake hands with the children representing the States and Territories.</text>
