Please note that as I am not a New Yorker my name carries an S on the end of it and that the school I represent is Phillips Academy, and not the Phillips Exeter Academy, our sister school located up in New Hampshire. I am greatly relieved to have the confirmation of the source, of the $2,000 check received by me late in August, for it was my understanding at the time that it came from my old friend Mr. Tsai Shou Kie for the expenses of his son who has been my ward for several years. I am still in the dark about Mr. Kay Tu though a further report from the Western Union at Seattle, Washington, advises me that the boy carries letters of introduction to me from several prominent Chinese officials, including one or two of our old Andover boys. I have no doubt therefore that he is perfectly reliable but that through some miscarriage the check which is father is supposed to have remitted to me has failed to reach its destination.
