I am the one who ought to do that. I have heard from Dr. Pratt, and evidently the question of your health lies pretty largely in your own hands. What you need to do is to quit worrying about yourself and just refuse to believe for one minute that you are not as strong and healthy as the next fellow. Unless you can get yourself into this frame of mind I am afraid that you are going to be bothered all your life, and increasingly so. Now is certainly the time to change your point of view, for it will be horded to do so as you get older. Some golf stockings, which you evidently got at Macullar-Parker’s, came to me recently, but as my name was the only one that appeared on the bo, I hadn't the slightest idea to whom they belonged. In answer to a letter of inquiry of minfi, however, the firm has just written me that these goods were purchased by you and should have been sent to Mt. Vernon. I judge that you have been making some pretty extensive purchases there lately from what they tell me. Don't forgot that you are spending more money, pretty regularly, than any other Chinese boy who has been under my care for a number of years. I do wish you could learn to cut things down to within reasonable limits, though I want you to have, and I know your father does, all that is really essential. Naturally, it would be difficult him to make this new contact at this time of the year, at least, in any good school. I was on the point of writing you myself to tell you how sorry I was that my engagements kept me from seeing you again before you left town. Next time you simply must come to the house and bring your bag with you. Then there won’t be any chance for us to miss connections. Anyway, it was just great to see as much of you as I did, even if this did what my appetite for more. We shall certainly allow K. F. to go down to the wedding. I wish I could join him, if for no other reason than to make up for only just having missed the wedding festivities in Hong Kong in 1912. I don’t know whether I can get off on that particular day, though if I should find it possible to do so you might see me yet. By the way, I hate to mention it, but as that young brother of yours has a way of spending money more freely than I could wish, he is forever overdrawing his account and there comes, every year, a period before the remittance comes from your father which I have to borrow funds to keep him along. Just now he is two or three hundred dollars over the line, if I remember correctly. I am just wondering if it would not be a bit easier all round if the remittance from home could be made a little earlier or, perhaps, in two installments. This would ease the situation a bit for me and would save borrowing, something that I don’t like to do if I can help it. I thought, perhaps, you might be willing to explain the situation to your father. I meant to talk with you about it when you were here, but there was so much else to discuss that was much pleasanter that I carelessly forgot it. My best wishes go with this letter.
