My dear Sir:
Allow me to acknowledge receipt of your letter of June 15th. I am pleased to note that your nephew probably enter the Academy in the fall; and I am sending him at the address you have given a copy of our catalogue and a note advising him of my desire to aid him in every possible way in completing his arrangements for admission to the school.
We are enjoying thoroughly and profiting distinctly by the presence of these Chinese boys in our student body. The friendship I have formed with many of them, including the friendship with the late Dir Liang Chentung to whom you refer, led me several years ago, when the Trustees allowed me a year of absence from school duties, to seek the East and to spend some two most enjoyable months in your native country. This experience has only served to deepen my interest in the Chinese boys who come to us; and I am glad indeed that we are going to be able to include your nephew in that number.
Sincerely yours.

Dear Sir:
Thanks for your kind letter or April 25th, also a copy of your catalogue & bulletins. My nephew Hsu Kun Kwong, who was at your academy from 1909-1910, before he entered Princeton University, strongly recommends my son to come to your academy to pursue a course of preparation for entering the Mass. Inst. of Technology.
Alfred Kwong, my son, is now attending the High school of Springfield Mass. I have written to him to come to see you, & take your entrance examinations as soon as possible, not wait till 18th of Sept.1918. I hope you will be kind enough not to give him such a hard & difficulty examination as to flunk him, which means nonadmittance.
I am very anxious & desire greatly that my son should enter your school, in preference to any other preparatory schools, for I know you give very thorough training in all subjects require for college admittance.
Thanking you again for your kind offer to assist me in any way.
Yours faithfully,

My dear Miss Reed:
Let me thank you for your letter relating to the work of Alfred Kwong who is just entering this school. I will hand your letter to the boy’s class officer; and I am sure that if your suggestions prove practicable, they will be carried out. As a matter of fact, however, there is not one boy in twenty who has had a full year of Algebra before coming to us who has covered anything like the full amount of work which our classes cover here in a year. If, however, we find that Kwong can do the advanced work, we shall certainly be only too ready and glad to give it to him.
Very sincerely yours.
